God, who placed a sense of expectation within us, waits patiently, even in the face of human corruption. God never gives up.
~ Pope Francis

Ponder:
Does thinking of God’s trust in me help me find courage? Or does it make me want to hide?
Pray:
God of hope, help me to trust in your presence, in your guidance, and in your love.

Reflection from David B. Perrin:
A Meditation on Hope: Saints Are Born from Sinners

We must understand and rejoice in the fact that saints are born from sinners. This truth gives us great hope. How fortunate we are to be counted among the sinners so that we may all be saints! This is true because we are always centered in God’s love.

John of the Cross tells us in the Living Flame of Love that at no point are we not centred in God’s love, although we move from centre to centre as we are transformed into a being anchored in the “deepest centre” of God’s redemptive life. This is a very hope-filled message!

We acknowledge that we are pilgrims along the way, but we are always centred in God – wherever we find ourselves along the pathway of life, saint or sinner. We are mostly a mix of the two, within which is grounded our humanity and the everyday realities of life. This is God’s surprise for each one of us: to be ever present in our history – your history and mine. Hope finds its beginnings here, in the presence of peace, joy, and love God brings into our everyday lives.

Consider the ways God is present in your life today. Can you name an event or person that brought you peace or joy or love in the past few days?

Pray for an increase of the felt presence of God’s peace, joy, and love in your life, and in the lives of your loved ones, thus increasing your hope for future encounters of God in your life.
