March 25, 2025 – Day Seventeen
The Church must keep the lamp of hope burning and clearly visible so that it may continue to shine as a sure sign of salvation.
~ Pope Francis
Ponder:
How brightly does my light of hope shine?
Pray:
God of hope, infuse my darkness with your light of hope, that I may be light for others.
Reflection from Theresa Dunn:
“Face of A Child”
Jesus was said to have called us to be like children. The face of a child holds true hope even in circumstances of war, disease and disability. Jesus said to be like a child was to know the way to heaven (my own paraphrase).
Children live in the moment. Great teachers from ancient times have advocated to be present, love and live in the moment. Who best does that but a child. Expressing true emotions from deep distress to gleeful joys as they experience them. The challenges like learning to walk is undertaken with the resolve of a great warrior, the seeking of the solace of a kiss given in love, finding endless joy with the sight of a person or thing they love. They will thrive with the most basics and yet die if not loved. They know the essence of life lies in the connection of others.
They have no language about God or religion yet they are innocently models of the Divine in our presence. Given the confidence of their caregivers they fear nothing or no one, not nature or the stranger.
Their message lies in their ability to live in the simplicity, living in each moment as though it holds all that is Divine. Loving totally through pain, through learning, through loss.
~ Biblical references of Jesus speaking about children from Compassion Canada on March 16, 2025.
Let us embrace in us the wonder of the child within, free flowing Love, endless wonder and curiosity, and simple purpose. Accept every moment, good or bad, as a gift from the Divine with the lessons it provides.
Let us pray together: “Great Spirit help us cherish and protect each child in us and around us. May we protect and cherish them as the true Gifts they are.”
